ANNA LAUDEL
ISTANBUL, TURKEY / DÜSSELDORF, GERMANY

Anna Laudel

Founded by Anna Laudel with the aim of supporting the work of Turkish, German and international artists. The gallery is dedicated to promote artists by providing a prominent contemporary exhibition platform and by developing a greater understanding of contemporary art. Following its first location in Istanbul, Anna Laudel opened its second gallery in Düsseldorf-Germany in 2019 to expand more internationally.

Directed by Ferhat Yeter, both galleries host solo and group exhibitions by emerging and established artists. The gallery also represents its artists of diverse backgrounds and generations in the global arts scene by showcasing their latest artworks at leading international art fairs which are known worldwide, for the purpose of developing knowledge of and appreciation for contemporary art within the region and beyond.

Past, present and future stand in a unique, oscillating relationship. Seemingly irreconcilable things combine to create new spaces of thought and vision that generate and play out ambivalences. Ardan Özmenoglu, Mathias Hornung and Sarp Kerem Yavuz bridge the gap between woodcut, photography, works on paper, neon and the digital world, thematically and structurally situating their works in the confusing present: The media survey is thereby also a kind of genealogy, irritatingly questioning the multilayered, also unpredictable dimensions of dealing with information. Wood, glass, paper, and neon mark different epochs that mutually expand into new possibilities, commonalities, perspectives, and illuminate each other anew. In a world of ever more perfect technical images and media image flood, we connect art with direct manual access to sensual immediacy, physicality and haptics.
