Visiting VOLTA Art Fair? Here are some of the frequently asked questions to help you visit us as easily as possible.


GENERAL INFORMATION

  • VOLTA is an international contemporary art fair dedicated to powering artistic discovery. In 2025, the fair celebrates 20 years of supporting emerging talent to access key art market capitals. The fair presents up to 70 international galleries from over 25 countries, offering collectors the opportunity to purchase work featuring new artistic narratives from across the globe.

  • The 2025 fair takes place in Basel, Switzerland from 18 – 22 June at a new, central venue Hall 4.U, Messeplatz 21.

  • Press Opening: 9.30am on Wednesday 18 June

    VIP Opening – by invitation only: From 10am – 2pm on Wednesday 18 June

    VIP Opening – paid entry: From 2pm – 8pm on Wednesday 18 June

    General Admission: From Thursday 19 – Sunday 22 June. See full opening hours here.

  • Yes. Anyone from the public can attend VOLTA.

  • Yes. Children under the age of 16 are welcome to attend VOLTA with parental guidance.

TICKETS AND ENTRY

  • You can purchase tickets on the Tickets webpage here.

  • We do. You can purchase a concession ticket at the box office onsite if you are over 60 or a student by showing your identification to a member of staff.

    Visitors who have a Basel Card can receive a 50% discount at the box office. 

  • We are not currently running group bookings online. If you’d like to book a group or tour, please get in touch with the team directly info@voltashow.com

  • Our box office system is digital first. You can show your ticket on your phone or on a printed paper ticket for entry to the fair.

  • All ticket sales for VOLTA are final, and we do not offer refunds under any circumstances, including but not limited to changes in personal circumstances, travel disruptions, or scheduling conflicts.

    Exchanges may be considered in exceptional circumstances but are not guaranteed. If you are unable to attend, you may transfer your ticket to another person. Please contact our team at info@voltashow.com with the new ticket holder’s details at least 7 days before the event.

  • On Wednesday 18 June is VOLTA VIP Collectors Preview. This event is by invitation only from 10am to 2pm. After 2pm, VIP tickets are available to purchase. This day gives collectors first access to works available to purchase at the fair with VIP experiences provided by our partners.

EXHIBITORS & GALLERIES

  • Applications are currently closed for VOLTA 2025. If you’re interested in exhibiting, contact info@voltashow.com

VIP & COLLECTORS

  • VIP passes are extended to art collectors, curators, museum professionals, and select members of the press, as well as our cultural and brand partners. Invitations are issued at the discretion of VOLTA’s team and Advisory Board. If you believe you qualify, please fill out the VIP accreditation form here or contact our VIP team at vip@voltashow.com

  • Your VOLTA VIP Pass gives you VIP access to Jewels Basel, photobasel, June and VITRA Design Museum

     Art Basel VIPs and Liste VIPs have complimentary VIP Access to VOLTA from 10am Wednesday 18 June.

ARTISTS & ARTWORKS

  • VOLTA is a gallery-led art fair, meaning participation is exclusively available to galleries representing artists. Independent artists cannot apply directly but are encouraged to collaborate with galleries to be presented at the fair. If you are an artist looking for opportunities, we recommend reaching out to galleries that align with your work.

  • VOLTA showcases a diverse range of contemporary art, including painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, digital art, and installations. The fair is known for its curated selection of both emerging and established artists, with a strong emphasis on fresh perspectives and bold artistic voices.

  • Yes, all artworks exhibited at VOLTA are available for purchase unless otherwise stated. The fair provides an excellent opportunity for collectors to acquire works from both rising and established international artists

  • Purchasing an artwork is simple:

    1. Visit the exhibiting gallery’s booth – Each gallery manages its own sales.

    2. Speak with a representative – They will provide details about pricing, availability, and payment options.

    3. Complete the purchase – Most galleries accept various payment methods, and some may offer instalment plans or shipping arrangements.

    4. Arrange collection or delivery – The gallery will guide you through logistics, including framing, transport, and international shipping if needed.

PRESS & MEDIA

  • You can apply for press accreditation using the form here.

  • Yes. There is a press preview of VOLTA Basel at 9.30am on Wednesday 18 June. To attend, you need to apply for press accreditation and be pre-approved by VOLTAs press team

LOGISTICS & ACCESSIBILITY

  • Yes, VOLTA is committed to ensuring accessibility for all visitors. The venue is fully wheelchair accessible, with step-free access, elevators, and accessible restrooms. If you require additional assistance during your visit, our team is happy to help - please contact us in advance or ask a staff member on-site.

  • Yes, the fair offers a range of visitor amenities:

    ·       Cloakroom – A self-service cloakroom is available for coats and small bags. Please note that the cloakroom is unstaffed, and items are left at the owner’s risk. We recommend to not bring large luggage due to space limitations.

    • Rest Areas – Seating areas are available throughout the venue for visitors to take a break.

    • Wi-Fi – Complimentary Wi-Fi is available for fair attendees. Please check with the reception desk for login details.

  • Yes, VOLTA offers a selection of food and drinks for visitors. We have a longstanding partnership with Meyer Kever Culinarium, a local Basel based culinary duo who host an on-site restaurant serving locally sourced, innovative and delicious dining options.

    The team serve a range of refreshments, including coffee, light bites, dinners and meals, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Tables are available to book at the restaurant during fair opening hours. To book a table at the restaurant, please get in touch culinarium@meyer-kever.ch

  • Only assistance dogs are permitted inside the venue. We kindly ask that all other pets remain at home, as the fair environment may not be suitable for animals. Thank you for your understanding.
