Perve Galeria is located in the historic centre of Lisbon since 2000, presenting modern and contemporary art exhibitions, specifically devoted to the Global south. Its name, Perve, is a non-existent Portuguese word that derives from a concept crafted by the gallery’s founders, Carlos Cabral Nunes and Nuno Silva. It aims to turn negative experiences into positive outcomes by the transformative power of art, elevating the represented artists to a higher level. For nearly 25 years, this guiding principle has driven a mission centred on unjustly under-represented artists, such as Reinata Sadimba, Ernesto Shikhani or Manuel Figueira, among many others, who were underrecognized. Through the gallery’s dedicated efforts, these artists are now represented in prestigious international collections, such as the Tate Modern’s, Pompidou’s, Serralves and Culturgest, just to name a few.

Since the late 1990s, it has been building a vast collection devoted to the Portuguese-speaking artists titled “Lusophonies”. The collection aims to produce interactions and merge the gap between Africa, Middle East, South America and Asia, and, since 2010, was presented in various countries, such as India, Portugal, Senegal, Turkey and Denmark.
