(New York, New York | March 9, 2023) — VOLTA returns to New York City this spring featuring presentations from 48 galleries. The fair takes place at the Metropolitan Pavilion from Wednesday, May 17 to Sunday, May 21. VOLTA is a contemporary art fair dedicated to creating an environment for art collectors to discover the art of now, connect with galleries and grow their collection.

VOLTA New York 2023 edition presents forward-thinking curations that hold a unique and international artistic dialogue. Though contributions by each exhibitor are uniquely informed by the present political and cultural context of their artists, artworks on view at the New York edition elicit certain overarching themes. Some revisit themes drawn from the art historical canon in a contemporary setting while others look to the future combining art and science. Taken as a whole, the works point to anxieties or hopes surrounding the environment and the state of humanity, while others prioritize depictions of the surreal and dreamscapes.

The fair will feature:

●      Exhibitors hail from over 18 countries. With representation from cities including Abidjan, Asheville, Beirut, Busan, Dublin, Frankfurt, Istanbul, London, Marbella, Mexico City, New York, Perugia, Tel Aviv, The Hague, Toronto, and Zurich, the fair brings together galleries both within and well beyond the traditionally defined art market capitals.

●      14 galleries will exhibit solo presentations at the fair. These focused spotlights allow VOLTA’s audience to discover a broader scope of an artist’s body of work, connect with dealers who have a focused dialogue, and collect in a considered space.

●      New VOLTA New York exhibitors include Tufenkian Fine Arts, California, CUT Art from Riga in Latvia and Gallery Bhak, South Korea.

●      Returning exhibitors include Galerie Thomas Fuchs, Ethan Cohen Gallery, Charlie Smith London and i le gallery, among others.
