From June 10 to 16, VOLTA Basel will present an elevated and expanded program of over 45 renowned galleries from 27 countries in the trendy Klybeck district of the city. The curatorial focus of the new Artistic Director Lee Cavaliere is on current artistic narratives in the emerging contemporary market and speaks to themes that mirror the world that we live in.

The inaugural fair of the new Artistic Director Lee Cavaliere marks a step change for the future of VOLTA. With over 45 galleries from 27 countries showing their portfolios this year, including galleries from Lebanon, Nigeria, South Korea, and Mexico, this makes this year's edition the most international in the history of VOLTA Basel.

The new special "Firsts" section will present young, up-and-coming galleries exhibiting in Basel for the first time. In addition to the Basel edition, VOLTA will take place in September in New York, with further locations being planned. A year-round VIP program rounds off the activities of the VOLTA Fairs. The International Advisory Board supports the art fair's influence at local level in various regions of the world, including the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

The complete gallery list will be published at the end of March.

Focus on innovative curation: The Advisory Board brings strategic alliances to the art world and promotes new galleries

Artistic Director Lee Cavaliere expresses:

VOLTA has a rich legacy of championing emerging galleries and showcasing never-before-seen artists. Under my direction, I am personally committed to platforming stories that defy art-world norms, a mission I’ll be bringing to the inaugural Basel 2024 edition. In a landscape often marred by homogeneity, this edition marks the most diverse yet, featuring galleries from over 27 countries. VOLTA has, and always will be, a powerful platform for discovery, injecting fresh life into the market with art that transcends borders and challenges the art fair status quo.

VOLTA's year-round program continues the fair´s work to reflect on the structures of the art world

VOLTA is forming an exciting program outside of the fairs. This includes a year-round VIP program to expand the fairs global reach with events on March 28, 2024 at Soho House, Hong Kong and in New York at the start of May.

VOLTA announces Sotheby’s Institute of Art as Education Partner

For the 2024 VOLTA Art Fair will be working with Sotheby's Institute of Art as its Education Partner. Sotheby’s Institute traces its foundation to 1969 and today provides MA programmes in New York, London and online, as well as a range of short and professional courses at the intersection of culture and business. The Institute boasts over 8,000 alumni who hold prestigious positions in the arts and luxury sectors across the globe. Sotheby’s Institute and VOLTA will work together to provide illuminating educational opportunities both during the fairs and beyond.

VOLTA New York turns to a Fall fair

In addition to VOLTA Basel, VOLTA New York will also be taking place again this year. It will be hosted from September 4 to 8 at the Chelsea Industrial, a 10 minute walk from the Armory Show at the Javits Centre.
